|From a scientific perspective, please see below as to why it is important as to where the nuez de la india is cultivated. |
The Amazon rainforest is the world's largest rainforest and covers more than half of Brazil. It is vertically divided into 4 different layers with each layer exhibiting a unique ecosystem of plants and animals specific to each layer. Seed size and seed characteristics among plant populations vary greatly depending on the environmental conditions to which each plant is exposed. The Latin Seed is such that it is able to retain a specific combination of nutrients and key trace elements derived from the environment in which it is cultivated - the Amazon Basin.
Plant growth and development:
Plant growth and development as well as the nature and quantity of its chemical constituents (plant metabolites) depend on many factors including temperature, rainfall, aspect, quantity of light, altitude, soil and water. This all affects the qualities of the plant including its nutritional and medicinal value.
Temperature is a major factor in development of constituents. This includes highest and lowest temperature reached as well as the annual, monthly, and daily variations in temperature.
Annual rainfall and distribution of rainfall affect the humidity and the water-holding capacity of the soil. Continuous rainfall can lead to loss of water-soluble substances from leaves and roots of plants.
The amount of light determines the amount of alkaloids or glycosides present in plants. When growing Menth piperita (peppermint) for example, long day conditions increase the beneficial constituent menthol and short day conditions increase the amount of menthofuran, which is undesirable.
Altitude is also important, Tea is grown at 1000-2000m, cacao 100-200m and coffee at 800-1800m as the caffeine content in the leaves and fruits increases with altitude.
Soil condition is also an extremely important influence on the quality of some plant constituents. The soil type, pH, mineral content and microbial characteristics all affect plant growth and development.
Therefore, plants of the same species will exhibit different plant metabolites and different qualities depending on where they are grown.
ES NECESARIO ADVERTIR, QUE NO SE LA DEBE CONFUNDIR CON LA TAMBIEN LLAMADA "NUEZ DE LA INDIA" MARAÑÓN O ANACARDO ALIMENTICIO QUE SE CONSUME EN MEXICO; PEOR AÚN CON LA "NUEZ VÓMICA" QUE ES MEDICINAL, SE VENDE EN HERBOLARIOS PERO NO ES ADELGAZANTE.
